2007 CD Review by Mike Wafer, Xpress Magazine.

Showcasing the best of last year's AmpFest competitors, Captains of King open the disc... and rightly so. Not only are they the best band on the compilation, they are also one of the most exciting up-and-coming bands in the Perth music scene - especially considering their youth.

The Cartridges, too, belie their age with their musical maturity, which balances pop adn rock elements almost flawlessly. Bands such as The Violet Flames and The Vans take a gentler approach, but with no less success.
The Killer Grapes and The Watts seem a little too young or under developed not to stick out like a sore thumb - which also afflicts The Bigness, though only due to being generically very different from the rest of the pack. Retrospect, Over Unity and
Shiftwork come across as a little too earnest, though considering their age still show tremendous promise, as do the super-positive Lovechild and the almost Commodores-like This Time Of Night.

Basically, if you want a prediction of what bands will make a foray into the local scene this year, this compilation might be a good place to start.

2005 CD Review by Donna Broder.

First ever AmpFest compilation CD, woohoo! AmpFest, clash or the bands was born in 2003 and it gives local young original bands the opportunity to perform in from of a live audience and hopefully catch the eye of music industry professionals. in 2005 there were 11 talented entrants and this CD is the result. the dominant sound shining through is mainstream contemporary rock with the exception of winners Mink Mussel Creek who are doing something completely their own, combining elements of psychaedelia, folk, glam, blues and rock n roll. I also thought ID.ology deserve a mention for their song "Inside My Dream" with awesome guitar riffs and engaging vocals. this band is already getting airtime and interviews with Nova 93.7 and rightly so!
