New Dog

New Dog

Debuting at a 50th birthday party in 2006, New Dog began its life as a 4-piece Rock band. With Sam Carew-Reid on bass and vocals, Max Clark on drums, Andrew Summerlin on keyboard and Alex Ure on lead guitar, the group initially performed covers of classic rock standards, such as songs by The Who. However, it wasn't long before the group began looking for their own style, and when Andrew Summerlin decided to bring his saxophone to a rehearsal, New Dog's unique brand of jazz/funk fusion was born. The group branched out from rock and began performing jazz standards such as "Autumn Leaves" and "Chameleon", mixing in a healthy spoonful of loud bass and percussion-oriented funk.
