Spectrum

Spectrum is the story of a group of musicians that live life, feel life, experience ife. Their music is raw and real, mixing melodic elements with powerful guitar driven riffs all the while moving towards a new genre of complex rock.

It’s difficult to say when the band officially started, however it drove its origins from Dylan Ollivierre (singer/guitarist) and Leigh Daniels (drummer).

The duo began playing together during their early years of high school and quickly discovered how well their musical identities blended. The duo began playing gigs for functions and private events and soon gained a following. However the two were not content with music’s easy answers. They stared into life and frowned upon mediocrity and instead revelled in its extremes, focusing on both its joy and its pain. The two recruited member after member, experimenting with different styles and different people until mid 2005, when they eventually found a line up that they felt they could communicate with and communicate to an audience with. Joining Leigh and Dylan, Monty Galloway picked up his guitar and Prahanth Pillai, his bass.

All four of the boys grew up under the banner of music, Dylan having been named after ‘Bob Dylan’ and having close connections to the musical genius. The band found itself easily coming together. Their music is raw and real, mixing melodic elements with powerful guitar driven riffs, all the while moving towards a new genre of complex rock. With influences driven from experiences, feelings felt, things seen and their own musical heores, Spectrum armed itself with an Alternative sound and an energy that must be seen to be believed and began playing anywhere they had the chance, from school events to party’s, anywhere they had a crowd. After earning a following, Spectrum set their eyes on playing bigger venues such as Flyby Night, Hyde Park Hotel and the Windsor Hotel. In late 2005 the boys were chosen as part of the top 5 school aged bands in WA to play alongside Aussie heroes, Gyroscope and Birds of Tokyo in the ‘Full Force’ festival.

After coming to the fact that technology is taking over the world, the band decided it was time to record a demo to boost their support through the internet world of myspace. In early 2006 a rough demo was recorded at Satellite Studios over 1 ½ days, containing the songs Rapture, Fingers Crossed, Beyond the White and Infection. The band hopes to in the future, share its music with people both nationally and internationally with the hope that all people may come to feel about music what they do. To be captivated by its magic and power.
