AmpFest is a live music competition open to original, unsigned bands, duos and solo artists.
AmpFest was established in 2003 as a Youth Advisory Council initiative. It's more than just a band competition, it's a community development project and opportunity for young WA musicians to get a leg-up in the industry. We also offer advice, industry experience, networking and volunteer opportunities in events management.
Past winners of AmpFest have included Mink Mussel Creek (which evolved into Pond), Goodnight Tiger, Dead Owls and Sisters Doll, and Tame Impala were runners up in 2005 when playing as The Dee
After a fantastic 2012 with a record-breaking 79 entries and a break in 2013, AmpFest is back with a new format. It's still open to young musicians but with a couple of changes:
* It's now free to enter
* We are skipping the heats and getting straight to the final at 4Sure Festival
From the applications received, a panel of music industry experts will select finalists to compete live on stage at the AmpFest Final at 4Sure Festival. The final will be held as part of 4Sure Festival on Saturday April 12 at Nedlands Foreshore.
* Perform live on stage at the AmpFest Final
* Compete for cash prizes (winner will receive $5000, runner up $1000)
* Take part in Band Development Workshops
* Receive membership to WAM
Keep an eye on the AmpFest Facebook page for announcements about festival details, including headline acts.
